Coach Lee enters his 3rd year
at the helm of the Crusader
basketball program. During his first
two seasons, he has begun to turn
the tide in the level of the program
since his arrival in April 2009.
Prior to his arrival, TTU won 5
games in two years and have since
won close to 30 games during that
span. Lee prefers to have his team
tested and doesn’t shy away from
playing nationally ranked teams or
DI opponents. In his first season,
TTU went in and beat Lee University
on their home court. The schedule
has included NCAA DI opposition
including: UT-Chattanooga, Samford,
Middle Tennessee State, Murray
State, New Orleans and NC Central.
Lee comes to Tennessee Temple from
the University of Texas - Permian
Basin where he served as Head Men's
Basketball Coach from July 2005
until accepting the position at
Tennessee Temple. Coach Lee was
named the 2005-2006 Red River
Athletic Conference Coach of the
year. Lee also guided UTPB in its
transition from NAIA to NCAA
Division II during his tenure.
During his tenure, UTPB beat future
National Champion Texas Wesleyan and
also beat NCAA DI Texas State.
Prior to coaching at UTPB, Coach Lee
was at the helm at the University of
Maine at Machias where he had a two
year stint as the head coach of both
men's and women's basketball. During
his tenure at UMM Coach Lee's men's
team advanced to the NAIA DII
National Tournament for the first
time in 13 years and only the 2nd
time in the university's history.
His teams won the Sunrise Conference
Regular Season Championship two
years in a row and the tournament
championship once. Coach Lee's team
also achieved the most single season
wins at UMM (29). Coach Lee's
women's team had a winning record
both seasons advancing to the
conference tournament semi-finals
his first year and the conference
championship his second year.
Prior to his arrival at UMM, Lee
served as an assistant at several
Division I programs. As an assistant
at the University of Maine, Lee
helped current Lasalle Head Coach
Dr. John Giannini lead the Black
Bears to the America East conference
championship game. While at Maine,
Lee's responsibilities focused on
the individual development of post
players, recruiting and scouting.
Prior to Maine, Lee served as an
assistant for Coach Kevin Johnson at
Centenary College (Shreveport,
Louisiana). During the 2000-2001
campaign, Lee recruited a future
All-Independent Player-of-the-Year
and two-time member of the
All-Independent first team and
assisted in the development of the
nation’s leading scorer during that
season.
At Delaware State, Lee helped lead
the Hornets to second-place team
rankings in all defensive categories
after finishing last the year before
his arrival. Lee assisted in
assembling a recruiting class that
was ranked # 108 in the nation by
HoopScooponline and was ranked 1st
in the MEAC conference. During the
1997-1999 seasons, Lee served as an
assistant at Towson University
(Baltimore, MD) for current UAB
Associate Head Coach, Mike Jaskulski.
In their first season at Towson, the
program went from last to first in
almost all team defensive
categories. The coaching staff also
had the top-ranked recruiting class
in their conference during the
1997-1998 season according to
HoopScooponline.
Prior to arriving at Towson, Coach
Lee served as a staff member for
Coach Leonard Hamilton (later of the
Washington Wizards and now head
coach at FloridaState University).
During this stretch, the Hurricanes
advanced to the NIT tournament. Lee
also served stints as an assistant
at Palm Beach Atlantic College, and
as an assistant coach/assistant
general manager of the Florida
Sharks of the USBL.
As a camp clinician and lecturer,
Lee has worked internationally in
Belgium, Holland, Canada, and the
Dominican Republic. He has worked at
some of the top summer camps in the
nation, including the prestigious
Five Star Basketball camps. Lee is a
